What changed, and what can move with you
According to OpenAI’s official discontinuation notice, the Sora web and app experiences ended on April 26, 2026, and developer access ended on September 24, 2026. If you are moving an old creative brief elsewhere, keep its storytelling intent. Treat platform-specific controls as something to rebuild, rather than instructions another generator will automatically understand.
A useful Sora alternative workflow starts with a readable shot brief: who is present, where they are, what changes, where the camera ends, and what anyone says. An elaborate cinematic paragraph can hide conflicting directions. Separate these decisions before choosing a model in the video generator. This guide offers original rewrites, not measured comparisons or a claim that outputs will match.
Choose a supported route before rewriting
On SeaDance, Seedance 2.5 and MiniMax H3 support text-only generation, a first image with an optional last image, and Reference mode with 1–9 images. Their available durations are 5, 10 and 15 seconds. Video output is 16:9. Seedance is sold at 480p here; H3 is sold at 768P. These are product settings, not a summary of every manufacturer capability.
Kling 4.0 is available through SeaDance’s model directory; check the live quote in the generator. According to Kuaishou’s announcement, its upgrades include steadier dynamic motion and complex camera work. That provides a reason to test a moving-camera brief, without establishing that it will outperform another model on your scene.
According to ByteDance’s Seedance 2.5 overview, it jointly generates sound and pictures. On SeaDance, write the intended sound into the prompt and use the visible duration menu. Do not import longer timings from an old brief. Uploaded soundtracks are not supported, so a previously recorded performance cannot become a timing lock.
Budget for a small translation test
| Model | SeaDance resolution | 5-second test, sound enabled |
|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2.0 Mini | 480p | 4 credits / $0.80 |
| Seedance 2.5 | 480p | 11 credits / $2.21 |
| MiniMax H3 | 768P | 9 credits / $1.81 |
All dollar equivalents allocate prepaid credits at the Basic monthly rate: $29.90 for 149 credits, or approximately $0.2007 per credit. They are not separate checkout prices. See pricing for plans and packs. New accounts start with 0 credits. Each new attempt is charged again, including a completed take you dislike; a failed generation returns its generation credits. That is different from a refund of a subscription payment. See the refund policy.
Original rewrite: a quiet reveal for Seedance
Before: “A richly cinematic station encounter, sweeping camera, dramatic discovery, richly layered sound, emotional dialogue, several beautiful angles.” The intent is a discovery, but the request gives no visible object, speaker, or ending. It also asks for angle changes while describing an uninterrupted camera move.
After, for Seedance 2.5: “A traveler in a charcoal coat stands beside an empty station bench at dawn. Medium shot, slow push toward her face. She opens a folded map, notices a handwritten star, and stops moving. She says in English, quietly, ‘You found the place.’ Soft station ambience. End with the map still open and her eyes on it.”
Use a short duration for the discovery test and shorten the line if delivery feels crowded. Keep the object visible instead of adding a reverse angle. If identity matters, attach the same approved character image through the relevant image mode; a written coat description alone is not a durable identity guarantee.
Original rewrite: a moving subject for Kling
Before: “A cyclist races through a neon city, incredible energy, dynamic cuts, a tracking shot, a dramatic orbit, and a perfect heroic ending.” The camera instructions compete, while the destination remains undefined. Pick the movement that reveals the story rather than stacking every exciting camera verb.
After, for Kling 4.0: “A courier in a yellow rain jacket rides along a wet street toward a closed bakery. The camera tracks beside the bicycle at handlebar height. The courier brakes, plants a foot, and looks at the dark shop window. Rain taps the awning. End with the bicycle stationary and the bakery sign behind the courier.” Check the live quote in the generator.
This rewrite is a proposed test, not an observed result. Keep the subject’s action separate from the camera path. If braking or the final pose fails, simplify that action before adding more atmosphere. Preserve a copy of the original request so the reason for each revision remains visible.
Original rewrite: a physical beat for MiniMax H3
Before: “A charming handmade toy comes alive, delightful physics, magical reactions, a cinematic journey across a workshop.” This is a mood description rather than a shot. Decide what the toy touches and where it should settle, then let the surroundings support that event.
After, for MiniMax H3: “A small wooden bird rests on a workshop table beside a brass bell. Locked medium close-up. The bird tilts its head, taps the bell with its beak, and returns upright. A single clear chime follows the contact; quiet workshop room tone underneath. End with the bird still beside the bell.”
Inspect contact and recovery separately. A convincing opening cannot rescue a beak that passes through the bell. If contact is difficult, try a simpler head turn before changing the entire visual style. This is suitable for learning how a particular model handles your physical beat without declaring a universal winner.
Move intent, then evaluate the result
Keep a saved record of scene, action, camera, line, reference files, model and visible quote. Change a single creative requirement between attempts. Watch the ending, listen to the words, and check whether props remain in the same hands. These checks make the translation useful even when the first take looks appealing.
When changing models, return to the same brief rather than transferring a growing list of corrections intended for the previous output. A local fix can become a contradictory instruction elsewhere. Compare what the scene needs, including its soundtrack, rather than matching an isolated attractive frame.
Frequently asked questions
Can a Sora prompt be pasted unchanged?
Yes, ordinary descriptive text can be reused, but unsupported controls and old timing assumptions should be removed. Rebuild the prompt around a supported SeaDance mode and review the quote before generating.
Will these rewrites recreate my old output?
No. They preserve creative intent, not a previous model’s exact output. Treat the examples as starting briefs and judge identity, action, sound and the ending in a fresh take.
Which alternative is cheapest for a draft?
Seedance 2.0 Mini is the lowest quoted video option in the table. A cheaper test is useful for clarifying a scene; it does not predict another model’s final performance.
Can I keep a recorded dialogue track?
SeaDance does not support uploading an audio file. For an exact recorded performance, plan a separate post-production sound workflow outside SeaDance.
